
US projects automakers would save more than $35 billion under new fuel rules

WASHINGTON, Dec 3 (Reuters) - Major automakers will save more than $35 billion in technology costs through 2031 under a broad rollback of vehicle fuel economy standards proposed on Wednesday, the Trump administration said.General Motorswould save $8.7 billion from 2027 through 2031, while Fordand Chrysler-parent Stellantis (STLAM.MI) would each save more than $5 billion, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said. Hyundai (005380.KS) would save $4.6 billion, Subaru (7270.T) $3.8 billion and Toyota (7203.T) $2.3 billion, it said.
