Cambricon denies rumors of increased AI chip production
Cambricon (688256.SH) issued a statement stating that the information regarding the company's products, customers, supply, and capacity forecasts circulated by media and online yesterday (the 4th) is misleading and false information.
Earlier reports indicated that Cambricon plans to increase AI chip production by more than two times by 2026, aiming to fill the market gap left by NVIDIA (NVDA.US) exiting the Chinese market and challenge the dominance of local competitors such as Huawei.
Additionally, there are reports that Cambricon is preparing to deliver 500,000 AI accelerators in 2026, including up to 300,000 of its most advanced Siyuan 590 and 690 chips. It is reported that Cambricon will mainly rely on the latest process from SMIC (00981.HK), namely the "N+2" 7-nanometer process
