The five-alarm fire at Tai Po Hong Fu Court has attracted attention from all sectors of society. The Real Estate Developers Association stated that it is gradually collecting opinions from its members regarding a comprehensive smoking ban on construction sites, and will share further information in due course; there was no meeting today (5th) to discuss related topics.

There are online rumors of a "smoking ban" notice at a construction site under Henderson Land Development (00012.HK), stating that workers found with cigarette packs will be fined HKD 5,000 and immediately expelled from the site, with a lifetime ban on re-employment. It is reported that this notice pertains to the Henderson Land site on Ba Yu Street in Sham Shui Po, but it was not issued by Henderson Land, rather by the court.

In addition, a spokesperson for CK ASSET (01113.HK) pointed out that smoking has always been strictly prohibited at its construction sites, but designated smoking areas will be provided for workers. Any violators will be dismissed and expelled from the site. The group has recently strengthened penalties and will report violators to the Construction Industry Council to notify the industry of their lifetime ban on re-employment
