
Former Vice President of China National Offshore Oil Corporation Yuan Guangyu prosecuted for bribery
According to the Supreme People's Procuratorate of China, Yuan Guangyu, former member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice President of China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), is suspected of bribery. The case has been concluded by the National Supervisory Commission and transferred to the procuratorial organs for review and prosecution. The Jiangsu Provincial People's Procuratorate, designated by the Supreme People's Procuratorate, has lawfully made an arrest decision against Yuan Guangyu on suspicion of bribery. Recently, the Xuzhou People's Procuratorate in Jiangsu Province has filed a public prosecution with the Xuzhou Intermediate People's Court.
During the review and prosecution stage, the procuratorial organs informed the defendant Yuan Guangyu of his litigation rights and interrogated him, listening to the opinions of his defense counsel. The procuratorial organs charged that the defendant Yuan Guangyu, by taking advantage of his positions as General Manager of CNOOC North Drilling Company, General Manager and President of CNOOC Oilfield Services Co., Ltd., General Manager of CNOOC (China) Limited Tianjin Branch, Director of CNOOC Bohai Petroleum Administration, and Executive Vice President and President of China National Offshore Oil Corporation, sought benefits for relevant units and individuals, illegally accepted property from others, with the amount being particularly huge, and should be held criminally responsible for bribery according to the law
