ST Engineering's American subsidiary VT San Antonio Aerospace (hereinafter referred to as VT SAA) has been named as one of the defendants in a lawsuit related to the crash of a United Parcel Service (UPS) cargo plane. The lawsuit, filed in a Kentucky court, alleges that VT SAA was negligent in the maintenance of the McDonnell Douglas MD-11F aircraft. According to a report by The Business Times on Friday (December 12), court documents indicate that the aircraft was maintained at VT SAA from September 3 to October 18. The preliminary investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) found that on November 4, shortly after takeoff, the UPS cargo plane collided with a warehouse and two other buildings, including an oil recycling facility. The incident resulted in 14 fatalities and 23 injuries. The lawsuit, brought by the family of one of the victims, also accuses shipping giant UPS and its airline subsidiary UPS Air, aircraft manufacturer Boeing, and General Electric of negligence. However, the company will not comment on ongoing litigation or legal proceedings. The spokesperson also said, "We are deeply saddened by this unfortunate incident involving the UPS aircraft and continue to extend our condolences to all those affected, especially the families of the victims." According to reports, VT SAA began operations in 2002, providing maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services for freight operators and commercial airlines. It is a subsidiary of ST Engineering North America, formerly known as VT Systems. ST Engineering's stock price rose 1.58% on Friday, closing at 8.34 yuan
