RoboSense secures order for 1 million LiDARs from Dongfeng Nissan following FAW Toyota deal

Last week, the company disclosed a large-scale order from FAW Toyota, which will see RoboSense supply nearly one million LiDAR units over the next five years for one of the automaker's best-selling models.In February 2023, RoboSense entered a supply partnership with Toyota to provide LiDARs for multiple Toyota models, becoming the first Chinese LiDAR manufacturer to enter Toyota's supply chain system.Founded in 2014, RoboSense has grown into one of China's largest LiDAR makers, offering short-, mid-, and long-range LiDAR products.In November alone, RoboSense delivered over 150,000 LiDAR units, according to data released earlier this month.In the automotive LiDAR sector, as of November 25, RoboSense's EM platform LiDAR has secured supply contracts for 56 vehicle models across 13 automakers.Over the past few years, China's rapid electrification has seen domestic brands rise while joint-venture brands lagged behind.However, this year Japanese automakers launched counteroffensive efforts in China's EV market, introducing multiple competitive models.In Nissan's case, Dongfeng Nissan launched the N7 pure-electric sedan on April 27 and the N6 hybrid sedan on December 1, both at highly competitive prices.Earlier this month, regulatory filings revealed that Dongfeng Nissan has filed for its new NX8 mid-to-large SUV (sport utility vehicle), marking the third model in the N series.
