The central parity rate of the RMB against the US dollar was raised by 49 points today, reported at 7.0523 to one US dollar, reaching a nearly 15-month high.

The People's Bank of China today (23rd) conducted a 7-day reverse repurchase operation of 59.3 billion RMB (the same below) in the open market, with the operation rate remaining at 1.4%. Today, 135.3 billion RMB of reverse repos matured, resulting in a net withdrawal of 76 billion RMB for the day.

The three major A-share indices performed well in the morning session, turned to decline in the afternoon, and ultimately closed slightly higher, with trading volume slightly increased compared to the previous day. The Shanghai Composite Index closed up 2 points or 0.07%, reported at 3,919 points, with a trading volume of 806.85 billion RMB. The Shenzhen Component Index closed up 36 points or 0.3%, reported at 13,368 points, with a trading volume of 1.09 trillion RMB. The ChiNext Index closed up 13 points or 0.4%, reported at 3,205 points, with a trading volume of 493.7 billion RMB.

Heavyweight domestic bank and insurance stocks were favored, with Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (601398.SH) and China Construction Bank (601939.SH) rising by 0.4% and 0.3%, respectively. Ping An Insurance (601318.SH), China Life (601628.SH), and China Pacific Insurance (601601.SH) rose by 0.4%-1.4%. In addition, CATL (300750.SZ) and BYD (002594.SZ) rose by 1.7% and 0.5%, respectively.

Leading domestic real estate stocks were soft, with China Vanke (000002.SZ), Gemdale Corporation (600383.SH), and Greenland Holdings (600606.SH) falling by 1.1%-2.2%. Vanke A (000002.SZ) fell 2.8%, as reports indicated that the group faces a risk of default on 1.3 billion USD in debt.

Consumer retail stocks showed mixed performance, with Dongbai Group (600693.SH) and Shanghai Jiubai (600838.SH) rising by 4% and 4.5%, respectively. Debon Group (300947.SZ) and Dalian Friendship (000679.SZ) fell by 1.6% and 6.4%, respectively. China Duty Free Group (601888.SH) also retreated by 2.4%. International gold prices repeatedly hit new highs, with SD-GOLD (600547.SH) rising by 6.9%.

Leading mainland chip stocks showed mixed performance, with SMIC (688981.SH) and Hua Hong Semiconductor (688347.SH) falling by 0.5% and rising by 0.6%, respectively. Cambrian (688256.SH) rose by 4%.

Three new stocks listed today surged, with N Nabochuan (301667.SZ), N Xihua (603248.SH), and N Tianshu (301449.SZ) closing up 408.18%, 264.46%, and 174.48%, respectively
