Although the holiday atmosphere is strong and trading has become quieter, sector speculation still exists. For example, Ping An (2318) and China Life (2628), mentioned on Monday, both reached multi-year highs yesterday, and resource stocks led by gold also attracted a lot of capital to join the dance.

Some are happy while others are worried; certain strong sectors have recently shown signs of decline, with the worst performance being among Chinese telecom stocks. My favorite stock, China Mobile (941), has reached a one-month low, but it is not easy to identify the reasons for the decline. The reality is that northbound capital has been selling continuously. However, where there is danger, there is opportunity; China Mobile's dividend yield has risen back above 6 cents, presenting another opportunity for phased accumulation.
