Notable achievements include the Maldives achieving triple elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B, and Brazil eliminating mother-to-child HIV transmission. Several countries eliminated trachoma and sleeping sickness, while Niger became the first African nation to eliminate river blindness. Global vaccination efforts led to a significant drop in measles deaths and advancements in HPV vaccination. However, measles cases surged, highlighting ongoing challenges in public health.
