In the wake of the January 2025 wildfires in Southern California, investors are purchasing approximately 40% of vacant lots, according to Redfin. In Pacific Palisades, 40.3% of sold lots were bought by investors, while in Altadena and Malibu, the figures were 44.3% and 44.2%, respectively. Many residents, particularly the elderly or underinsured, are opting to sell due to financial constraints and lengthy rebuilding processes. Despite the investor interest, numerous lots remain unsold, leading to price reductions to attract buyers.
