On the first day of the New Year's Day holiday, hotel bookings in mainland China increased by more than three times

TONGCHENGTRAVEL announced that data shows, driven by the combined demand for travel vacations and returning home for family visits, as well as a variety of New Year's Eve activities, hotel bookings in mainland China on the first day of the New Year's Day holiday increased more than three times compared to the same period last year.

Qunar Travel released data showing that on the first day of the New Year's Day holiday in 2026, the number of flight tickets to popular destinations increased by 26% year-on-year, and hotel occupancy in popular regions grew by 1.2 times; travelers can fly to 698 cities domestically and internationally, staying in hotels in over 200 cities in mainland China and more than 800 cities abroad.

The railway is experiencing the highest peak of passenger flow during the New Year's Day holiday. The Ministry of Transport announced that on New Year's Day (January 1), the total inter-regional movement of people is expected to exceed 208 million, with a month-on-month increase of 0.2% and a year-on-year increase of 21%
