Convoy –electric semi brand SANY pairs autonomy with human experience

SANY, a Chinese heavy truck brand, is introducing a new approach to autonomous trucking by using a human driver in a lead vehicle to guide up to four autonomous trucks. This 'platooning' method, co-developed with Pony.ai, aims to address regulatory concerns and improve traffic management while offering significant cost savings. Initial pilots suggest a 29% reduction in freight costs per kilometer and a potential 195% increase in operating profit. This initiative is part of SANY's strategy for digitalization and decarbonization, leveraging advanced technology for enhanced operational efficiency.
