Congo’s Gecamines to buy 100,000 tons of copper from CMOC’s Tenke Fungurume mine

Congo’s state miner Gecamines will purchase 100,000 tons of copper from CMOC’s Tenke Fungurume mine, representing 20% of the mine's output. The deliveries will occur throughout the year and will be exported to the U.S. Gecamines has partnered with Swiss group Mercuria for support. This move aligns with recent agreements between the Democratic Republic of Congo and the U.S., as the country seeks to enhance its control over mining sales and strengthen its position in the global metals market.
