Cathay Pacific reduces fuel surcharge in February, with an overall reduction of over 25%
Cathay Pacific Airways (00293.HK) announced that it will adjust the fuel surcharge again starting from February 1, 2026. Passengers who purchase tickets on or after February 1 can pay a lower surcharge.
According to the adjustment of passenger fuel surcharges for February 2026 announced by Cathay today (14th), the surcharges for all flight categories will be reduced, with an overall reduction of more than 25%. Among them, the fuel surcharge for short-haul flights will be lowered from the current HKD 191 per segment to HKD 142. The surcharge for South Asia subcontinent flights will be adjusted from HKD 356 to HKD 264. As for long-haul flights, the surcharge will be significantly reduced from HKD 767 to HKD 569.
Cathay Pacific stated that the company has an established mechanism to regularly review the level of fuel surcharges on a monthly basis. During the review process, the main reference is the market price trend of aviation fuel, along with other relevant operational factors, and adjustments will be made as necessary.
Cathay's fuel surcharge had previously increased at the beginning of the year, adding nearly HKD 100 to HKD 400 to round-trip tickets, but just half a month later, it announced a reduction in fees for the following month
