The self-media "Storyteller TuTu" was found guilty of infringing on EAST BUY and was ordered to pay 200,000 RMB and issue an apology statement
Regarding the lawsuit filed by EAST BUY (01797.HK) against an individual named Zhang, who goes by the online name "Storyteller TuTu," the Beijing Internet Court recently issued a first-instance judgment. The defamer Zhang is required to post a top apology statement on platforms such as Douyin, WeChat Video Account, Xiaohongshu, and Kuaishou, publicly apologize to EAST BUY for a duration of no less than seven days, and compensate EAST BUY with 200,000 RMB. Currently, the related infringing articles and videos posted by Zhang have been taken down.
Since 2024, Zhang has been using IDs such as "Storyteller TuTu" to frequently publish slanderous, insulting, and defamatory remarks about EAST BUY on platforms like Douyin, WeChat Video Account, Xiaohongshu, and Kuaishou.
In response to a series of false statements made by Zhang and other online self-media representatives, EAST BUY had previously issued a clarification statement, but Zhang did not cease making related remarks.
The court pointed out in its ruling that during the trial of this case, Zhang continued to intensively publish short videos and even conducted live-streaming sales, using explanations of the lawsuit to attract traffic and profit. By creating or gathering hot topics on the internet, Zhang aimed to attract public attention and expand content dissemination, thereby enhancing emotional connections with the public to gain traffic, ultimately converting it into commercial purposes. However, while efficiently attracting traffic, it also easily breeds impulsive, extreme, and even infringing content against others' legitimate rights and interests.
EAST BUY opened higher today (15th) and reached a maximum of 22.74 RMB. As of the latest update in the afternoon, it reported 22.04 RMB, up 3.28%, with a trading volume of 13,798,300 shares, involving 307 million RMB
