Elon Musk posted a question about whether to acquire Ryanair
Elon Musk posted on the social media platform X, questioning whether he should acquire Ryanair, as the dispute escalated after Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary ruled out installing Starlink internet on the airline's planes.
Ryanair currently has a market value of approximately $35 billion and is expected to achieve a debt-free status in the coming months. According to EU regulations, airlines based in the EU must be majority-owned by nationals from within the region or from Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, or Liechtenstein.
Michael O’Leary stated on Ireland's Newstalk radio that Musk knows nothing about airplanes and claimed that purchasing internet services from Starlink would add $250 million in annual costs for the airline due to increased drag on the planes and higher fuel consumption, while passengers would also be unwilling to pay for the service
