
Africa Stock Market Closing Report | South African stock market closed up nearly 0.4%, with gold mining stocks leading the way
On Tuesday (January 20), the South African FTSE/JSE Africa Top 40 Index closed up 0.37%, above 112,600 points.
Among the constituent stocks, Anglo American Platinum (ANG.SJ) rose 6.18%, Gold Fields (GFI) increased by 3.57%, Sasol (SOL) was up 3.02%, while Impala Platinum Holdings (IMP) rose 1.18% to rank seventh in terms of gains. Harmony Gold Mining (HAR) increased by 0.63% to rank tenth. Prosus closed down 1.59%, ranking seventh in terms of losses, Naspers fell 2.82% to rank third from the bottom, and British American Tobacco (BTI) dropped 3.44% to lead the decline
