JD MALL plans to target Hong Kong this year, with the group launching multiple promotions in Shenzhen to attract Hong Kong customers
JD.com (09618.HK) plans to expand JD MALL to the Hong Kong market this year. The group launched "One Dollar Chicken Plays in Shenzhen," providing free bus shuttle services, free drinks, JD MALL discounts, and health check-up offers for Hong Kong residents, hoping to promote the brand while facilitating consumption for Hong Kong people traveling north.
JD MALL currently has 26 stores in mainland China, and a sales assistant in the coffee machine section of the Nanshan store in Shenzhen revealed that 50% to 60% of customers are from Hong Kong. For every 10 coffee machines sold, 2 to 3 are purchased by Hong Kong customers.
JD has 5 JD Health check-up centers, located in Beijing Yizhuang, Fengtai, Dongcheng, Guomao, and Nanshan in Shenzhen. Among them, the head nurse at the Nanshan store revealed that corporate clients account for 70% of the customers receiving services, while individual clients account for 30%. Additionally, the maximum capacity of the center on weekends can reach 150 to 180 people.
As for JD's self-operated supermarket brand, Seven Fresh, there are approximately 70 stores nationwide as of mid-January this year. The deputy store manager of the Shuiwei store in Futian indicated that Hong Kong customers account for an average of 15% of the store's clientele, with the proportion rising to about 20% on weekends. However, he mentioned that with the Lunar New Year approaching, the flow of Hong Kong customers is gradually increasing, but since they mainly purchase fresh products, the demand for New Year goods is not significant
