Baidu (09888.HK) opened up 3.8% at HKD 159.5, with JP Morgan expecting Baidu's revenue and adjusted earnings to improve quarter-on-quarter in the fourth quarter of last year, raising the target price from HKD 185 to HKD 195.

In the financial sector, HSBC (00005.HK) and Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (00388.HK) opened up 0.7% and 0.2%, respectively, while AIA (01299.HK) opened up 2.2%. Gold prices fell from their highs, with China Gold International (02099.HK) and Zijin (02899.HK) opening down 2% and 2.2%. Chow Tai Fook (01929.HK) reported a 17.8% year-on-year increase in retail value last quarter, with the stock price opening up 0.7% at HKD 13.8.
CK Hutchison (00001.HK) has yet to make a decision on the independent listing of its telecommunications or retail business, with the stock opening up 1.5% at HKD 62.25. MicroPort (02252.HK) expects its annual revenue to more than double, with adjusted losses narrowing by 50%, and the stock price opened up 5.3%. China Rare Earth Holdings (03788.HK) raised a net amount of HKD 770 million through a placement at a discount of over 18%, with the stock opening flat at HKD 4.65
