No third-party export of WeChat chat records allowed? Tencent responds: Some open-source projects bypass encryption measures, threatening user privacy and security

On January 22, Tencent responded that some open-source projects reading WeChat chat records have cracked the local database keys through reverse engineering of the WeChat client to bypass the encryption measures of the WeChat client, threatening the data privacy and client security of users and third parties, and are easily exploited by black and gray industries. Tencent stated that it has made requests to the open-source platform in accordance with relevant regulations and received support from the platform, with most projects choosing to proactively remove the violating content after communication with the platform.
