The central parity of the Renminbi has risen above "7" and reached a high of over two and a half years, up 90 points to 6.9929 against the US dollar. The People's Bank of China today (23rd) conducted a 125 billion Renminbi (the same below) seven-day reverse repurchase operation, with the operation rate remaining at 1.4%. Today, 86.7 billion Renminbi of reverse repos are maturing, resulting in a net injection of 38.3 billion Renminbi for the day. On the same day, the central bank conducted a 900 billion Renminbi Medium-term Lending Facility (MLF) operation, with a term of one year.
The three major indices of A-shares showed mixed performance in the morning session, with half-day trading volume increasing compared to the previous day. The Shanghai Composite Index closed at 4,133 points, up 11 points or 0.3%, with a transaction amount of 807.3 billion Renminbi; the Shenzhen Component Index closed at 14,360 points, up 33 points or 0.2%, with a transaction amount of nearly 1.09 trillion Renminbi; the ChiNext Index closed at 3,322 points, down 5 points or 0.2%, with a transaction amount of 502.9 billion Renminbi.
In the banking sector, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (601398.SH) fell 0.3% while China Construction Bank (601939.SH) rose 0.1%. Additionally, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (300750.SZ) fell 0.4%. BYD (002594.SZ) fell 0.5%. Dongfeng Motor Corporation (600006.SH) is expected to see its net profit loss widen in 2025, with losses of 390 million to 480 million Renminbi, and its stock price fell 2.6%.
International gold prices rose, leading to a rebound in gold-related stocks, with Zhaojin Mining Industry Company Limited (000506.SZ), Shandong Gold Mining Co., Ltd. (600547.SH), Zhongjin Gold Corporation (600489.SH), and Chifeng Jilong Gold Mining Co., Ltd. (600988.SH) rising between 2.4% and 4.4%. Silver-related stocks (601212.SH) hit the daily limit.
Chip-related stocks were weak, with SMIC A (688981.SH) and Hua Hong Semiconductor (688347.SH) falling 1.7% and 3.3%, respectively. AI chip stock Cambricon Technologies Corporation Limited (688256.SH) fell 1.8%. Domestic GPU stock Moore Threads (688795.SH) also fell 1.5%.
Pharmaceutical retail stocks performed well, with Yifeng Pharmacy (603939.SH) hitting the daily limit. Dazhong Pharmacy (603233.SH), Jiuzhoutong (600998.SH), and YaoYigou (300937.SZ) rose between 5.1% and 6.8%. The mainland supports retail pharmacies in mergers and reorganizations.
The commercial aerospace sector was actively traded, with Zhenlei Technology (688270.SH), Goldwind Technology (002202.SZ) A shares, Western Materials (002149.SZ), Shanghai Port Bay (605598.SH), and Runbei Aerospace Technology (001316.SZ) hitting the daily limit, while Aerospace Micro (300053.SZ) rose 15.1%.
Nanjing Panda (600775.SH) opened high and rose, increasing 5.7% in the half-day session, with the company expected to turn a profit in 2025, earning between 10 million and 15 million Renminbi
