The third phase of "Simple Public Housing" will accept applications starting from January 30
The Housing Authority announced today (23rd) that applications for the "Simple Public Housing" will be accepted starting January 30. The third phase of applications covers four projects, including Cheung On Street in Chai Wan, Kai Tak Shiyun Road (Phase 2), Yan Po Road in Tuen Mun, and Ching Fat Street in Tuen Mun, providing a total of approximately 8,820 units, which are expected to be ready for occupancy starting in the second quarter of this year.
Eligible applicants will receive application forms sent by the Housing Authority on or before January 30. Applications submitted between January 30 and February 20 will be prioritized. Those who submitted application forms earlier do not need to submit again.
A spokesperson for the Housing Authority stated that the response to the "Simple Public Housing" applications has been enthusiastic, with over 27,700 applications received by mid-January. Under the leadership of the Housing Authority, six projects with a total of approximately 9,500 units were completed and ready for occupancy last year, among which four projects (including Yuen Long Yau Ma Tei Road, Ngau Tau Kok Choi Hing Road, Sheung Shui Choi Yuen Road, and Kwun Tong Shun On Road project) have over 4,600 units fully occupied.
The spokesperson mentioned that the third phase of the "Simple Public Housing" projects is located in various areas of Hong Kong, Kowloon, and the New Territories, with different scales and advantages. More importantly, the living environment and supporting facilities of each project are far superior to substandard "cage homes" and other inappropriate accommodations. There are also special allowances for residents and various services and support provided by operating organizations. Regarding the special allowances for residents, the Poverty Alleviation Committee has recently approved an additional allocation of HKD 57.05 million from the Caring Fund to expand the "Simple Public Housing" special allowance pilot program to fully cover all 13 "Simple Public Housing" projects and extend it until March 31, 2028, aiming to provide timely support to more residents in need
