
By 2026, Beijing will complete the renovation of more than 300 old residential communities
On the morning of January 25, the Fourth Session of the Sixteenth People's Congress of Beijing opened at the Beijing Conference Center. Mayor Yin Yong delivered the government work report. The report proposed that by 2026, Beijing will accelerate the transformation of its development model as a megacity and enhance the level of refined urban governance. It will vigorously promote urban renewal, implement urban renewal regulations, strengthen the guarantee of building scale indicators and financial policies, and promote the integrated renewal of residential, commercial, and service areas. Efforts will be made to address safety issues in 507 old and dilapidated buildings, renovate over 300 old residential communities, install more than 800 elevators in old buildings, carry out the third round of the "Return to Heaven" action, and continue to promote the transformation of urban villages
