China's core photovoltaic materials have achieved a key breakthrough, and the gas-phase method for producing polyolefin elastomers has been scaled up for production
According to China Petroleum, the high-end material polyolefin elastomer, known as industrial gold, has achieved large-scale production using the gas-phase method at the Dushanzi Petrochemical in Xinjiang. This breakthrough effectively alleviates China's dependence on imports of this material for strategic emerging industries such as photovoltaics. Polyolefin elastomer is a unique high-end material that combines the processability of plastics with the high elasticity of rubber, making it a core raw material for strategic emerging industries like photovoltaics. As early as 2015, Chinese technicians began tackling the technology of polyolefin elastomer, and by 2024, the transformation from laboratory to industrial production was achieved. In 2025, Dushanzi Petrochemical is expected to produce a cumulative total of 58,000 tons of polyolefin elastomer, completing the full-chain construction of the complete technical process route.
