The first payment institution exits this year as payment licenses continue to "decrease"

Recently, the official website of the People's Bank of China updated the list of revoked licensed institutions, and the payment license of Henan Jubao Payment Co., Ltd. has been revoked, making it the first payment institution to exit the market in 2026. As of February 2, the number of existing third-party payment licenses has significantly reduced to 162, with a total of 109 licenses revoked. Among the revoked payment licenses, those related to prepaid card businesses account for a large proportion, exceeding 80%. In the entire year of 2025, the central bank revoked the licenses of 12 payment institutions
