Retail Management Association's Qiu Anyi: Over 90% of members expect the market to remain stable or rise during the Lunar New Year

The Chairperson of the Retail Management Association, Xie Qiu An Yi, stated that the total sales value of the retail industry in December last year increased by 6.6% year-on-year, lower than the market expectation of 7.9%, mainly affected by the major fire at Hongfu Garden at the end of November. However, she is confident about the retail market situation for the Lunar New Year.

She mentioned that the overall consumer atmosphere in the market has gradually recovered since December. The association collected opinions from its members regarding the Lunar New Year, and most were very positive, believing that over 90% expect the market to remain stable or rise, while the decline is less than 10%. Looking ahead to the first half of 2026, the association believes that the retail industry will perform steadily, but it still depends on market, economic, and geopolitical changes
