According to Bloomberg, Chinese automaker BYD (1211) has joined hundreds of companies in requesting a refund of tariffs paid under the import tariff policy of the Trump administration.
The report cites relevant documents indicating that BYD's U.S. subsidiary filed a lawsuit with the U.S. Court of International Trade on January 26, arguing that a series of executive orders supporting these tariffs are invalid, and therefore the imposition of these tariffs is illegal.
<h2>U.S. Supreme Court Has Not Ruled on Tariffs</h2>
Currently, the U.S. Supreme Court has not made a ruling on the legality of the tariff legislation signed by Trump. BYD's subsidiary stated that without case rulings and judicial relief, they cannot guarantee a refund, which is why they filed the lawsuit.
In addition to BYD, more than 1,000 business entities have also filed lawsuits regarding the billions of dollars in tariffs imposed by the U.S. to date, including Costco and Goodyear Tire &amp; Rubber Co.
Furthermore, Trump stated in a social media post last November that being forced to refund tariffs &#34;would be a national security disaster.&#34;
