SMIC Co-CEO Zhao Haijun responded to questions regarding the price increase of certain capacities during the earnings conference. Previously, there were reports that TSMC planned to shut down some production lines, leading to a reduction in capacity, and that SMIC would increase prices by 10% for some capacities by the end of 2025. Zhao Haijun stated that prices change according to market supply and demand. SMIC's memory-related products are experiencing price increases, and there is a supply shortage for BCD (Bipolar-CMOS-DMOS) foundry services, which is currently happening. Due to competitors not producing certain mature capacities and instead focusing on advanced packaging, the supply of mature capacities has decreased. Additionally, applications on the AI edge are consuming more capacity, and we are now seeing that the prices of bulk products such as CMOS CIS and LCD Drivers, which originally had lower prices, remain unchanged or even slightly increase.
