Image credit: BYD)</figcaption></figure><p>BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) on Thursday began pre-sales of the Song Ultra EV, seeking to expand its edge in the highly competitive mid-size electric sport utility vehicle (SUV) market with faster charging technology and lower prices.</p><p>BYD is offering four variants of the model, with pre-sales starting prices of 155,000 yuan ($22,490), 165,000 yuan, 175,000 yuan, and 185,000 yuan.</p><p>The company plans to officially launch the model by the end of March. BYD said the model is equipped with its flash-charging technology and second-generation blade battery, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 70% in five minutes.</p><p>According to official data, the vehicle can charge from 10% to 97% in about nine minutes under normal temperatures. Even at minus 30°C, charging time increases by only about three minutes.</p><p>The Song Ultra EV offers two range options, delivering CLTC ranges of 620 km and 710 km. The model uses a single rear-wheel-drive motor with a maximum output of 270 kW and a top speed of 210 km/h.</p><p>In terms of smart driving, some variants can be equipped with LiDAR and BYD's God's Eye B driver-assistance system.</p><p>BYD said the system is built on an end-to-end large AI model architecture combined with reinforcement learning algorithms, enabling smoother assisted driving in narrow streets and complex traffic environments.</p><p>The vehicle is also equipped with the DiSus-C intelligent body control system and a high-speed tire blowout stability system.
