The People's Bank of China emphasized that the Renminbi is the legal currency of our country, a symbol of national economic sovereignty, and an important embodiment of national credit. The &#34;Regulations on the Management of Renminbi&#34; and the &#34;Measures for the Management of the Use of Renminbi Patterns&#34; prohibit the production, imitation, and trading of Renminbi patterns, and the use of Renminbi patterns on sacrificial items, daily necessities, and tickets is not allowed.
In recent years, the People's Bank of China, together with the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the State Administration for Market Regulation, has legally rectified the illegal production and sale of &#34;Renminbi version&#34; paper money, effectively maintaining the image and credibility of the Renminbi. The so-called production and sale of &#34;Renminbi version&#34; paper money refers to the production and sale of paper money that uses or imitates the complete patterns of Renminbi that are currently in circulation or have been withdrawn from circulation, or the main scenic patterns of the front and back of the Renminbi, such as portraits.
Case 1: A printing company and a wholesaler in Huai'an, Jiangsu Province, producing and selling &#34;Renminbi version&#34; paper money
Case summary: In April 2025, online monitoring discovered that a funeral supplies store in Jinhu County, Huai'an City, Jiangsu Province, was selling &#34;Renminbi version&#34; paper money. The Huai'an branch of the People's Bank of China, in conjunction with the Huai'an Market Supervision Bureau and the Jinhu County Public Security Bureau, conducted law enforcement actions, investigating the paper money wholesaler Wang and tracing back to the printer Yan based on clues provided by Wang, seizing a large number of finished and semi-finished &#34;Renminbi version&#34; paper money and printing templates.
Result: Given Wang's active cooperation in the investigation and whistleblowing, the relevant departments legally issued a warning and fined Wang 4,500 yuan, confiscating all illegal gains; Yan was fined 52,000 yuan and had all illegal gains confiscated, with all involved paper money destroyed.
