The fourth generation of HSBC headquarters celebrates its 40th anniversary

HSBC has been rooted in Hong Kong for 161 years since its opening at 1 Queen's Road Central in 1865. The fourth-generation HSBC headquarters, which has been in use since 1986, has become one of the most iconic landmarks in Hong Kong's skyline due to its forward-thinking design. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the headquarters building. To celebrate this occasion, HSBC specially invited the world-renowned architect Norman Foster, who designed the fourth-generation HSBC headquarters, to return to Hong Kong for the celebration after an 8-year absence.

The celebration banquet was held last night at the HSBC headquarters building. During her speech, HSBC Hong Kong CEO Eric Wu stated that for 40 years, this building has facilitated the daily interactions of millions of employees and customers, showcasing the vitality of Hong Kong as an international financial center and the charm of a city where Eastern and Western cultures converge through its timeless modern design
