The S&P 500 Index initially closed down 0.6%, with the Real Estate sector falling 1.8%, the Utilities sector dropping 1.7%, the Industrials and Telecommunications sectors declining 1.3%, the Technology sector slipping 0.3%, and the Energy sector rising 1.4%. The Nasdaq 100 Index initially closed down 0.4%. Among its components, Pinduoduo initially fell 4.8%, Doordash dropped 3.9%, AppLovin declined 3.7%, Strategy fell 3.6%, nuclear power stock CEG dropped 3.3%, and Honeywell decreased 3.2%. Meanwhile, AMD, Palo Alto Networks, Zscaler, Seagate Technology, Diamondback Energy, and CrowdStrike each rose at least about 3%. Merck fell 3.7%, leading the Dow Jones Industrial Average declines alongside Honeywell, Boeing, and Apple.
