As this British oil giant remains at odds with hundreds of union workers, BP's Whiting, Indiana refinery, with a daily capacity of 440,000 barrels, has entered its second month of shutdown.

After months of negotiations failed to produce a new labor contract, BP initiated a shutdown on March 19 against approximately 800 workers represented by the United Steelworkers union.

On Wednesday, BP stated that the company has made two attempts since early April to return to the negotiating table with the union but has not yet received a formal response.
