I want to make it clear that all so-called "never sell" claims are somewhat self-promotional gimmicks.
The most solid one is the traditional portfolio!
The next one with a more mysterious logic is Hi5, which also fits the persona that the proposer LEI has been building for himself. However, the choices of RSP, VNQ, and PFF, though recently criticized, will likely stop the complaints when rotation happens.
"Invest Wisely" keeps coming up with "never sell" claims every few days and occasionally mocks LEI, but the arguments are getting weaker, clearly just chasing clout—pretty lame! So I only picked the two groups with somewhat reasonable logic.
The dividend and the last portfolio were just casual remarks during idle chat, yet someone took them and promoted them! There’s some logic but no deep analysis—I don’t know how they got labeled as "never sell"...
Actually, the dividend portfolio just picks two ETFs with decent net value and dividends, but PFFA’s liquidity isn’t as good as PFF, though its dividend yield is higher. There are other issues too—I’ll post a comparison later.
The other one is just four relatively stable and liquid CC-style ETFs that pay out monthly, though you have to pay taxes. The net value stays steady or even rises a bit, covering the Nasdaq, S&P, and traditional preferred stocks, etc.
Truth is, I’m just lazy—don’t want to follow this or that guru and hype along. Just want to make some easy retirement money, that’s all!
Bored and with nothing to do, I compiled a table comparing the returns of six so-called "never-sell" ETF portfolios that emerged from last year to this summer, based on their general rules and calculated from the time I last observed them.
