I've experienced a lot in the past year and a half. Personally, I've gone through three bull and bear cycles, but the crypto and stock market hit me too hard last November, and now I can only slowly climb out of the hole.
A quick review:
keep
I feel like there's nothing I did well—almost everything needs improvement.
improve
1. Ensure capital safety, stick to trading discipline, and strictly control drawdowns.
2. Overcoming fear is essentially about improving financial security, so significantly increasing income from my main job is key.
stop
1. Leverage—I found that whenever I use leverage, I inevitably lose money, probably the world's punishment for excessive greed.
2. Overexposure to crypto and growth stocks—it feels great when they rise, but the drops are several times worse than the broader market. The core of my big losses comes from poor position management.
3. Frequent trading—I paid a ton in fees and was easily influenced by community sentiment.
4. Overly diversified positions—draining energy and increasing management costs.
5. Spending too much time on trading apps—the results were terrible. The more I watched, the more I lost, affecting both my main job and my mood.
start
1. Simplify my portfolio to 5–7 positions (excluding watchlist positions under 1%).
2. Spend no more than half an hour daily on apps—just to observe community sentiment, big players' comments, and set trading plans.
3. Deeply research the business, finances, and moats of companies I like—only by understanding them well can I hold confidently (e.g., I bought Google heavily at 150 but sold around 220).
