On July 7, Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee announced that the Hong Kong Gold Central Clearing System began trial operations today, with considerations for developing new RMB gold futures contracts and providing tax incentives for institutional investors in gold trading. To support the launch of the new system and simultaneously activate the local gold futures market, the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) announced the exemption of gold futures-related fees starting July 6 for a period of one year.
