Li Auto has obtained L3 autonomous driving road test permits in Beijing, allowing them to conduct regular road tests. This development follows a regulatory update in China's autonomous driving sector. Xpeng has also secured similar permits in Guangzhou. China's market regulation authority has issued draft guidelines to curb destructive price competition in the EV sector, aiming to stabilize pricing and ensure fair competition. The guidelines prohibit practices like price-fixing and selling below cost, and require transparent pricing and contracts. Major EV manufacturers, including BYD and Xpeng, support the draft and pledge compliance. Feedback on the guidelines is open until December 22.
XPeng has launched regular L3 road testing. He Xiaopeng previously stated that the company's technological reserves and evolution goals are aimed directly at L4 level autonomous driving, with plans to launch mass-produced models that meet L4 level autonomous driving standards in 2026. As the commercialization of intelligent driving accelerates, the direct competition between XPeng and Tesla in the field of autonomous driving will become even more intense
