China has pledged to purchase at least $17 billion in U.S. farm goods annually from 2026 to 2028, excluding previous soybean commitments. Additionally, disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz have slowed oil and fertilizer flows, further impacting agricultural production costs.

India's fertiliser imports from China surged by 173% in FY26, totaling 5.02 million tonnes, as reported by the Ministry of Commerce. Russia remains the largest supplier with 6.8 million tonnes. Additionally, Saudi Arabia and Iran are the top buyers of Indian basmati rice, with Iran increasing its imports by nearly 17% compared to the previous year.
