AI is taking over Hollywood.
Google is investing $75 million in the renowned film studio A24 to build the future of AI filmmaking.
A24, the studio behind popular works like "Backrooms" and "Marty Supreme," is now preparing its biggest project ever: a $175 million "Elden Ring" film.
Here's what they're really building:
Google's DeepMind team will work directly with A24's filmmakers to create new AI tools for filmmaking and distribution. Imagine AI building storyboards and flagging issues before the first shot is filmed, while allowing filmmakers to retain full creative control.
This isn't the kind of AI that spits out an entire movie from a text prompt. A24 has made it clear it won't build tools that make filmmakers uneasy. The goal is to speed up work that takes months and millions of dollars, not to replace artists.
This is the latest sign of Hollywood's rapid collision with AI. This year, Disney's deal with OpenAI fell apart, Lionsgate partnered with Runway, and now Google is teaming up with one of the world's hottest studios.
The AI race has just entered the film industry.
