Posted during the day, won't post at night.
$Apple(AAPL.US)$Berkshire Hathaway B(BRK.B.US)$McDonald's(MCD.US)$Coca Cola(KO.US) These are generally seen as defensive stocks in the market. If these rise, the $Invesco QQQ Trust(QQQ.US) might not do well. Especially if these all rise together.
Our side crashed today too. Watch your positions. Tonight will probably be another bloody day.
This week, these two earnings reports won't lift the market. They're both relatively niche. $ASML(ASML.US) and $Taiwan Semiconductor(TSM.US) especially... with $XL2CSOPSMSN(07747.HK) also being slaughtered. And with no clear bottom in sight.
When volatility is high, as I said a couple of days ago, go back to large-cap stocks, like those old, large-cap ones. The decline will be smaller. If small-cap stocks are volatile, it will be worse. I admit the rallies can be fierce, easily 5 or 10 percentage points. At least hold on first. If your principal ends up being a very small portion, then no matter how much it multiplies, it's meaningless. Leverage, leverage, deleverage. Use leverage wisely.
In fact, the large-cap stocks mentioned last time at least achieved balance; they haven't crashed much during this period. For me, by tonight, I should be down about 10% for the month, feels okay. If I were in small-cap stocks, I'd probably be down more, and if I didn't reduce positions... picking a few of the worst performers to mention, $Amazon(AMZN.US)$Tesla(TSLA.US) also haven't moved. As for the two mentioned above reporting earnings this week, it's completely sector influence, nothing can be done, but the declines are also small. 3~5 percentage points, I think.
The ones performing well, $NVIDIA(NVDA.US) and Apple, are both doing great.
Of course, the most rational behavior is to open a position when there's an opportunity, and wait when there isn't. That's the ultimate key.
Then there's $SK Hynix(SKHY.US), it should also fall a lot tonight. However, if you're still buying those $XL2CSOPHYNIX(07709.HK), you might as well switch to the double. At least you can reduce the double's decay. No one knows where this wave of selling will stop. Hope those who bought in at 70 this morning can get out unscathed later... If you say 130, 140, that's a long wait.
