Packaging Corp. surges to record high on report of containerboard price hike
Packaging Corp. of America (PKG) shares surged 8.1% to a record high following a Truist Securities report indicating plans to raise containerboard prices by $140/ton starting September 1, with potential additional increases. Analyst Michael Roxland attributed the hike to rising costs and strong demand amid tight supply. The news also boosted International Paper (IP) and Smurfit Westrock (SW), which rose 10.1% and 10.8% respectively.
