Just a few months after she debuted her last new album of original material (Evermore) on top of the Billboard 200, Taylor Swift is back at No. 1 on the ranking with Fearless (Taylor’s Version). The title is the first of six early releases she’s planning on re-recording and re-releasing, and clearly fans support the project, as they not only streamed it into the history books, they bought more copies of the title in its first seven days of availability than most efforts have been able to sell this year. 
 
After just one week, Fearless (Taylor’s Version) is already the second-bestselling album of 2021 in the U.S., looking solely at pure purchases. 
Fearless (Taylor’s Version) opens atop the Billboard 200 with 291,000 equivalent copies, though that sum includes sales as well as streaming equivalents. When focusing only on actual purchases, the re-recorded set was bought by 179,000 fans, which is enough to make it not just the bestselling release this week, but one of the bestselling of 2021.

Only Morgan Wallen’s Dangerous has sold more copies in the U.S. this year. The fellow country title, which also arrived at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 back in January and which went on to rule for 10 consecutive frames, has sold 218,000 copies, according to Billboard. Fearless (Taylor’s Version) may not have sold as many copies as Dangerous, but it does beat that set’s record for the largest debut of the year, as Wallen’s sophomore effort opened with 265,000 equivalent copies. 
 
Now that Fearless (Taylor’s Version) stands out as the second-bestselling album of 2021 in the United States, the release that used to hold that spot has been pushed down to third. Carrie Underwood’s recent Christian music project My Savior dips one rung on the list of the bestselling full-lengths in America this year, as it has now sold 114,000 pure copies. 
 
Fearless (Taylor’s Version) is Swift’s ninth No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and her third in less than a year. The original version debuted in first place on the weekly ranking back in 2008, bringing the then-rising country musician to the peak spot on the tally for the first time.
