Bill Gross, the "bond king," has voiced support for regional bank stocks including West Banks Bancorp, Synovus Financial Corp, and SPDR S&P Regional Banking ETF. He believes that even in conservative situations, owning a bank can be profitable long-term, and smaller regional banks may be bought up by larger ones at a higher price. Gross also expressed a pessimistic view on inflation, stating that holding inflation-protected bonds rather than US treasuries is wiser due to the difficulty in achieving the Fed's 2% target. In April, US bank deposits decreased by $76.2 billion, indicating a continued fragile financial system.
