
Comparison of main users of JD.com, Taobao, and Pinduoduo: JD.com leads by far in first-tier cities

Source: 快科技 (TechNews), June 26th: According to data from QuestMobile, with the gradual formation of consumer habits during the 618 shopping festival, both online retail and express delivery services have shown a growth trend since late May. The overall penetration rate of the e-commerce industry has reached 85.6%, exceeding not only last June's level but also increasing the industry's average daily active users from 650 million last year to 667 million. Further data shows that the core user groups of the three major e-commerce platforms, JD.com, Taobao, and PDD, have significant differences in gender and age distribution. On JD.com, nearly 60% of high-stickiness users are male, while on Taobao and PDD platforms, the proportion of male users is less than 40%. In terms of geographical distribution, the proportion of users in first-tier cities on JD.com is 16.8%, significantly higher than Taobao's 11.2% and PDD's 8.1%. In terms of city tier classification, the largest number of JD.com users are from new first-tier cities, while Taobao and PDD users are mainly concentrated in third-tier cities. In terms of age, the main user group of JD.com is aged 31-40, accounting for 29%. In contrast, the main user group of PDD is aged 51 and above, accounting for over 37%
