Xpeng reportedly to launch at least 4 EVs in 2025, including new models and facelifts

Image credit: CnEVPost) Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) plans to launch multiple new models in 2025, with at least one expected to be released every quarter, including facelifts of existing models and a new model in partnership with ride-hailing giant Didi, according to a report by local media outlet Xuebao Caijing today. In early July, Xpeng invited some store managers, suppliers and investors to its car production base in Zhaoqing, Guangdong province, to see the Xpeng Mona M03 as well as the refreshed models, according to the report. Xpeng is currently working on facelifted models of the G6, P7i and G9, which are now in the camouflaged car road test stage, the report said, citing a source who was invited to the visit. The main purpose of car facelifts is to boost competitiveness, and in the era of new energy vehicles (NEVs), the pace of launching refreshes of existing models has accelerated dramatically, the report noted. The mid-cycle facelift of the Xpeng G3 and P7 took about three years, while if Xpeng launches facelifts for the P7i and G6 next year, the cycle will be shortened to two years, the report said. Xpeng's current models on sale include the P5, P7 series, G6, G9 and X9. The P7 series includes the older P7 and the new P7i, and Xpeng's website continues to show the P7, but does not offer an ordering portal as it does for other models. Xpeng is focusing its efforts this year on the launch of the Mona M03 and the Xpeng P7+ sedan, codenamed F57. On August 28, 2023, when announcing the acquisition of Didi's electric vehicle business, the company said it planned to launch the new brand, codenamed Mona, in 2024. However, in communications over the past two months, Xpeng has begun referring to Mona as a new model line. On July 3, Xpeng gave the Mona M03 its debut, saying the price would be under 200,000 yuan ($27,580), with an official launch in August. On July 9, CnEVPost learned exclusively that Xpeng will launch its new model internally codenamed F57, or Xpeng P7+, in the fourth quarter that will ditch the use of LiDARs.
