
Shanghai Municipal People's Congress representative, Xu Xiaoliang of FOSUN INTL: Deep integration of culture, tourism, and commerce to stimulate new momentum for urban consumption
On January 15th, the third session of the 16th People's Congress of Shanghai opened. Xu Xiaoliang, co-CEO of FOSUN INTL and a representative of the Shanghai People's Congress, presented suggestions on "developing new productive forces in culture and tourism to help Shanghai build a world-class cultural and tourism destination" and "promoting urban cultural soft power enhancement through 'Eastern lifestyle aesthetics'." Xu Xiaoliang stated that vigorously boosting consumption is one of Shanghai's key tasks for 2025. Shanghai has the conditions to combine consumption with its own genes and urban endowments, focusing on dimensions such as branding, fashion, and culture and tourism to promote high-quality development of the Shanghai consumer market. For example, deepening brand consumption to revitalize time-honored brands; promoting fashion consumption to create a new global fashion highland; and promoting cultural and tourism consumption to tap into the consumption potential of overseas tourists
