Mainland investors boost the rise of Hong Kong stocks, with net purchases through the Stock Connect reaching more than seven times that of the same period last year

Mainland Chinese investors have net invested nearly HKD 150 billion in the Hong Kong stock market through the Stock Connect this year, more than seven times that of the same period in 2024, completely unaffected by the earlier Chinese New Year holiday this year, which resulted in fewer trading days. On Monday, the net buying amount through the Stock Connect reached HKD 16.5 billion, the highest level since early December last year, with the trading volume of the Stock Connect accounting for nearly half of the total trading volume in the Hong Kong stock market that day. Mainland investors have continued to buy Tencent shares in large quantities, with their shareholding ratio reaching approximately 11.4%, and their shareholding ratio in Xiaomi reaching 16.2%
