On February 20, France passed a law that will prohibit the use of "permanent chemical substances" in products such as cosmetics and clothing, shoes, and hats. "Permanent chemical substances" mainly refer to perfluoro and polyfluoroalkyl substances, which are widely used in various industrial products and are named for their difficulty in degradation. These substances can accumulate in the environment and the human body. Some studies suggest that long-term exposure to these substances may be associated with cancer, liver and heart damage, as well as impaired immunity and development in infants and children
