China’s nuclear-powered carrier can add rail gun, other futuristic weapons: expert

China plans to develop a next-generation nuclear-powered aircraft carrier equipped with advanced energy weapons, including a rail gun and high-energy laser systems. Military expert Liang Fang highlighted the potential of electromagnetic weapons, which utilize electromagnetic force for high-speed projectile launch. This aligns with previous concepts by Rear Admiral Ma Weiming, envisioning a "supership" that could revolutionize naval combat. The US has previously invested in similar technology but halted its rail gun project due to challenges. Future Chinese carriers are expected to feature sixth-generation aircraft with enhanced capabilities and a higher proportion of uncrewed vehicles.
