Yahoo Hong Kong will stop producing original content such as news and finance starting in April, with most full-time employees being laid off

Yahoo's sub-site Yahoo Hong Kong, under Yahoo News, will no longer provide original content such as news and finance starting in April. Other media news currently shared on the website will also gradually cease within the year, retaining only email and search services. In response to inquiries, Yahoo Hong Kong stated that due to ongoing adjustments in the company's global business, it will phase out its media content operations in Hong Kong starting in April, with completion expected later this year.

Reports indicate that Yahoo's management held a meeting today (17th) with personnel from the content and business departments to discuss the arrangements, but did not disclose the reasons for the business reduction. Most full-time employees in the news department will be laid off on March 31, including sales department staff, with a small number of remaining employees responsible for transition work; some employees have already received relevant notifications today. Currently, there are about 30 to 40 full-time employees in Yahoo News, and it is estimated that only about one-third will remain in April.
